Long Weave Hairstyles

Long Weave Hairstyles

Go for long waves with straight ends to achieve a rockstar-inspired hairstyle. Start with extra-long hair that falls to the center of your back for the greatest impact. Add a couple drops of smoothing serum to your tresses to add shine and protect them from heat. Create an uneven center part for a messy vibe. Using a jumbo-barrel curling iron, curl 2-inch-wide sections of hair. Rather than beginning at the ends of your hair, begin curling approximately 3 to 4 inches above your ends. Your rough-and-tumble look is easy to accomplish and super chic.

All-Over Layered Curls

Opt for all-over curls -- this is a carefree look to maintain throughout the day. Even when the wind is blowing at full force, your free-spirited corkscrews look beautiful no matter how they fall. This works best on haircuts with layers throughout. If you love the way your hair curls naturally, add a couple drops of smoothing serum to wet hair and dry with a blow dryer and diffuser. To create curls, blow hair out smooth and then use a 1-inch curling iron on small sections of hair until you achieve a head full of spirals.

High Pony
Going for a long weave hairstyle is a cinch when you choose a high ponytail. This style is sleek and totally ideal for those days when the front of your hair is not cooperating. Apply a dollop of pomade throughout your hair. Slick your hair back with a brush to smooth even the most defiant of flyaways toward your crown. Gather hair into a ponytail and secure with a tonal hairband. For an extra feminine kick, use a large-barrel curling iron to curl your ponytail section by section, and enjoy the major bounce.

Sleek With Bangs

Choose a super sleek look for your long weave hairstyle -- creating this look is a breeze. Unless you're prepared for the big chop, ask your stylist for sewed-in bangs and an overall hair length that reaches several inches past your shoulders. Go for a full set of fringey bangs that angle softly into the rest of your hair. Wear your hair super-straight for a sleek vibe. Spray your hair with a heat protectant and run a flat iron over your tresses for an extra-smooth appearance. Pull your hair forward over your shoulders for a smoldering finish.

Healthy Skin Care Tip for Winter Season

Healthy Skin Care Tip for Winter Season

Here are a few simple must-dos that you keep skin as healthy as possible.

1. WATER, WATER, WATER! Between the cooler outdoor temperatures and lots of indoor heat, the skin can become dehydrated and start to look dry and wrinkled. Therefore, drinking plenty of water of at least 8-10 8oz glasses daily will help the skin retain more moisture from within. Actually, because the body is made of 75% water, it is a staple year round everyday for skin to remain its healthiest!!

2. MAKE THE FACE GLOW AGAIN! The face can take on a very dull, ashy look from the past months of warm weather and lots of sun expo-sure, especially since it is the most exposed area. Also, the daily build-up of old, dead skin cells can give you a dull look. As part of a facial cleansing routine, use a facial scrub at least once or twice a week. After the first exfoliation, the face will feel renewed. Make-up will glide easier and overall look nicer. For deeper ex-foliation, recommend a visit a dermatologist or spa for microdermasion or a series of chemical peels.

3. EXFOLIATE FOR MORE RADIANT SKIN! People constantly slough off skin cells every-day but sometimes not enough to get that ultimate glow. This is especially true when the skin gets darker in color during the summer. Recommend that customers use a body scrub with a body brush, loofah sponge or simply using your hands in a circular massaging motion to remove. It is very important to let all wash-cloths, brushes and sponges hang to dry to avoid a bacteria buildup which can lead to infection of skin and hair follicles. A weekly tub soak will also help eliminate extra skin cells and keep skin looking fresh.

4. MOISTURIZE SKIN EVERYDAY TO PREVENT DRYNESS! With the cooler outdoor temperatures plus indoor heat, skin can surely become very dry. Apply a daily facial moisturizer with alpha-hydroxy acids which help to retain moisture. To seal in body moisture, use a heavy body cream, even white petroleum jelly works well after showering. Use lukewarm (not hot) water to avoid drying skin more. Get a humidifier for your bedroom to put moisture in the air which will ultimately prevent skin from being as dry.

5. CONTINUE TO USE FACIAL MOISTURIZERS WITH SPF! Even though the hot summer days are gone, skin needs a moisturizer with a sunscreen. Although, African American skin has pigment which is somewhat protective of the sun, it is not totally resistant. There-fore, even during the cooler months, the sun still shines and the ultraviolet ray exposure can cause skin cancer.

Braid and Braiding Hair Products (3) Fishtail

Fishtail Braid and Braiding Hair Products

The fishtail braid earns its name because the finished style resembles the texture of a fish's scales. Unlike the basic braid, the fishtail only uses two sections of hair. Split your hair into two sections, parting it down the center. At the nape of your neck, bring a small amount of hair, no thicker than a 1/2 inch, from the right section over to the left. Bring a 1/2 inch section of hair over from the left to the right. Continue to bring 1/2 inch sections of hair over from right to left and left to right until you have only a few inches of hair left at the bottom. Secure the ends of the braid with a hair elastic.

Cuticle Remi/Remy Hair and Care Products

Cuticle Remi/Remy Hair and Care Products

Characteristics of Remi/Remy Hair
1. Remi Hair’s Cuticle is alive
2. Remi Hair’s Cuticle is aligned to face the same direction
3. Remi Hair is made from healthy hair, allowing it to be reused after washing

Remi Hair comes in two different texture
- Medium Texture Remi Hair is similar to that of Asian hair, resistant and straight. - Fine Texture Remi Hair is similar to that of Caucasian hair, thin yet high in density and more on the wavy, curly side.

Like I have mentioned above, the main feature of Remi Hair lies in its Cuticle, so what is the hair cuticle?

The hair cuticle is the outermost part of the hair shaft. It is a hard shingle-like layer of overlapping cells, from five to fifteen layers deep. The scales formed give the hair shaft added strength to provide protection and defense against all forms of damage and cuticles have a strong affinity with oil and are extremely resistant as well.

Cuticles make up about 10 to 15% of the entire hair and much of the strength and shine of hair is due to the healthiness of the cuticle, therefore, hair's level of damage can be determined by the level of porosity in the cuticle.

In the hair industry, the statement "cuticle is alive" is in reference to the healthiness of the hair and the key point is to have cuticles facing the same direction in order to closely resemble natural hair. As previously mentioned, Chinese Remi Hair tends to be thick, strong, and straight while Indian Remi Hair is thin, resistant, and usually wavy or curly.

Therefore, Chinese Remi Hair's Curly Pattern is through processing and Indian Remi Hair's Straight Style is due to processing as well but with heat and both types of hair still possesses the highest quality, which is why Remi Hair is commonly known as Special Hair.

Cuticle also acts as a protective barrier for the softer inner structure Cortex, located between the hair cuticle and the medulla and the cortex makes up about 80 to 90% of the entire hair. The color of a person's hair depends on what type of melanin is also found in the cortex and hair's elasticity is also determined by the cortex. Since Color, Perm, Thermal Iron Styling, as well as Wet Set chemical processes all take place within the cortex it is considered as the determining factor behind an individual's hair texture.

That is why cortex's healthiness is extremely important and while cortex determines the final result of a chemical process, cuticle is the initial protective barrier, equally as important.

In a nutshell, we have gone over the overall characteristics of Remi Hair and the structures, functions, and the importance of the Cuticle and the Cortex. Now we will turn our attention to why it is important to use Special Hair Care Products and the reason is simple - because the hair's condition is different. Remi Hair is not coarse like the typical Extension products that are sold, and that is why the average hair care products are not sufficient to provide the right for Remi Hair

Usually, hair care products targeted towards the Ethnic are developed to treat coarse texture hair and have a tendency to weigh down the hair with access oils and even in some cases, strip the hair away of its natural moisturizing agents. Then what about the hair care products geared towards the Caucasian market?

In a sense, Caucasian hair care products are better suited for Remi Hair than Ethnic products because extension hair is usually made from Asian or Caucasian hair. Therefore, Caucasian hair care products provide the necessary nutrients to the hair but since most hair products have been chemically processed either through coloring or straightened and curled, it is not Virgin hair anymore; therefore, they require additional protective, nourishing and moisturizing agents.

When choosing a Hair Care Product for the extension hair, it is important to take all the following points into consideration: the quality, texture, and natural pattern of the hair as well as protecting it from heat styling, making it manageable on a daily basis, providing it with essential nourishments, etc.

8 important points when choosing the good Remi Hair care product
1. Versatility: exceptional result on all kinds of hair
2. Moisturizing: treatment for itchy scalp & dry hair
3. Non-sticky formula: no messy residue or buildup
4. Brilliant shine: enhance color & healthiness of hair
5. PH balanced: stabilize the hair back to original state
6. Essential nutrients: protect & guard while revitalizing
7. Static protection: prevent split ends and tangling of hair
8. No-Tangle formula: increase manageability and comfort

Simply put, Remi Hair care products are perfectly formulated to satisfy African American, Caucasian, and even Asian hair and should be recommended to trend seeking customers who are looking for a product that will not weigh their hair down, add a healthy bounce, and provide a natural look.

6 WAYS TO INCREASE / STIMULATE HAIR GROWTH

6 WAYS TO INCREASE / STIMULATE HAIR GROWTH

Drink green tea

Experts who believe in the hair health benefits of green tea point to the fact that certain compounds found in green tea cause the relaxation of blood vessels, helping overall cardiovascular activity through increased circulation. Of course increased circulation will naturally help nourish hair roots and scalp tissues.

Make sure you have a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Fruit and vegetables contain important antioxidants which can help protect the hair and promote faster hair growth.

Eat foods rich in Omega 3 fatty acids.

Omega 3 fatty acids can be found in oily fish or fish oil supplements and have powerful anti-inflammatory properties and so can alleviate any inflammation in the scalp and as they help the blood flow more efficiently they also help to nourish the scalp.Hair is composed of a protein known as Keratin so not surprisingly, a diet lacking in protein can hinder hair health and growth. Many people are still unaware of the importance of getting enough Omega 3 fatty acids in their diet, a lack of which will show up in the health of your hair.

Do not wash excessively your hair.

Excessive washing of the hair, particularly with shampoos containing harsh chemicals can remove the natural oils in the scalp, so it is important to use a good quality shampoo and conditioner and avoid washing the hair every day if you can.

Eating adequate amount of protein prevents your hair from shedding.

Inadequate protein intake over a lengthy period can force hair into the resting phase with shedding a few months later. It is obvious then that sufficient portions of protein rich foods should form part of your daily diet. The best sources of dietary protein are lean meats, fish, poultry, eggs, dairy products, soy, nuts, grains and seeds. At least 15% of your daily calories should come from protein-rich foods.

Eat adequate amounts of useful carbohydrates.

Carbs are an essential source of energy and help in the growth of body tissues, including hair. They are an important source of the B vitamins that are vital to healthy hair. It is important that you concentrate on consuming non-refined carbs rather than the sugars and white flour that are so prevalent in many over-refined carb products. You should place an emphasis on consuming vegetables, fruits, whole grains, brown rice and potatoes. It is recommended that you obtain 55-60% of your daily calories from the carbohydrates found in these foods. Consider adopting some of the following tips to boost your natural energy, and encourage the growth of new strands that are healthy, shiny and less prone to dryness or breakage.

HAIR CONDITIONERS

UNDERSTANDING HAIR CONDITIONERS

Shampoos and conditioners are staples of just about hair care every product line. They form the foundation for most systems, and just about every woman, regardless of race, ethnicity, hair type or texture uses them. As it relates to consumer purchasing decisions, shampoos are often thought of as having lower involvement. While they are important in the maintenance regimen, many women tend to make repeat purchases of their favorite shampoo, and occasionally, venture out to try something new.

However,
conditioners have greater involvement. There are many more choices, more benefits to consider, varying price points and expectations. With so many possibilities, how can OTC staff recommend what conditioner is right for their customer? To answer this, you must first sort through the different types of conditioners and why they are used.

The most common Marketing terms used to describe
conditioners include: Deep, Leave-In, Rinse-Out, Dual, Reconstructive and Moisturizing. Most conditioners contain ingredients that do not completely rinse out, bonding to the hair to deliver a needed benefit. In their most basic form, the best conditioners alter the hair's texture, leaving it softer and easier to manage.

Choosing the right type of
conditioner depends on the user's current hair type, texture and what they expect from the end result. Relaxed and natural hair both require a good moisture balance, which can be achieved, in part, through regular, deep conditioning after shampooing. Deep conditioners  followed by leave-in conditioning treatments, significantly help. Hair that is subjected to frequent heat styling, as well as styles that pull on the hair (like braiding and twisting), need reconstructive conditioning. This type of manipulation, during styling, causes hair strands to weaken, cuticles to raise and chronic dryness to occur. Moisture has to be put back in the hair, and damaged strands must be repaired. Good reconstructive conditioners offer these benefits. For normal hair textures and types, dual, rinse-out and leave in conditioners help to maintain a healthy moisture balance, soften the hair and help keep it manageable in between shampoos.

In addition to trying to resolve a problem, women also consider their choice of conditioners based on the ingredients. Finer hair textures may opt for light-weight
conditioners that contain more water-based humectants, versus women with thicker, coarser textures, who select conditioners that offer more natural oils. Regardless of hair texture, when conditioners are not used, hair has a rough, dry, stripped feeling. Conditioners are essential for softening and manageability. Some of the most popular ingredients in conditioners, especially for ethnic women, include Olive Oil, Tea-Tree Oil, Avocado Oil, Jojoba Oil, Keratin and Wheat Protein. These ingredients are perceived as having good, healthy benefits, and are natural.

Women tend to explore a variety of
conditioners and will pay more for conditioners than shampoos. This presents a great opportunity for OTC staff to introduce consumers to new or different ones. OTC's should always ask their distributor for manufacturer samples. The most typical samples, readily available, are of conditioners and leave-in maintenance treatments. Engaging a consumer about her hair texture and the results she desires from conditioning, can open the door to further exploration of different products, which can lead to more sales.

Natural Hair Style - (1) Afro Style

Natural Hair Style - (1) Afro Style

Wash and Go

Wash and go is a common natural hair style that includes wetting the hair and applying a styling product or gel to hold your natural curl, coil, or wave pattern. This style is also referred to as a Wash and Wear, Wet and Go, or Wet look. Wash and gos are an excellent go to style in the warmer months as the hair needs to air dry.

Afro Mohawk

An afro Mohawk, or fro hawk, is a variation on the standard Mohawk because you're not required to shave your head. The hairstyle relies on curly hair at least 2 inches long to achieve the pulling back on the sides and the volume in the Mohawk.

Natural Afro

The afro is a chic, natural hairstyle worn by African-American men and women. Not only is it easier to maintain and easier on the hair than some other styles but it is a style rich in heritage, as well. Growing natural afro hair doesn't have to be a task. With proper care and maintenance, you can grow an afro worth being proud of.

Afro Puff

An afro puff is a hairstyle that is unique to hair of African descent. You can place as many puffs as you like in your hair since this is a fairly easy style to achieve at home. All you need is a little time and patience.

BLACK FRIDAY WEEK DEAL - REMY 20% OFF

BLACK FRIDAY WEEK DEAL - REMY 20% OFF

Cuticle Hair, Remy Hair, Human Hair or Synthetic Hair?

Hair Type - What is Cuticle Hair, Remy Hair, Human Hair or Synthetic Hair?

There are many sources that account for the availability of hair for cosmetic and prosthesis purposes. All human hair is not created equally. French Refined hair and European Natural (or any variation of that theme) is considered to be from a Caucasian source. Most human hair is Asian because that is where most human hair is processed due to the fact that many Asians grow their hair as a crop to be harvested for the market. About 10 percent of the hair comes from India because of an ancient custom of growing the hair to waist length, then cutting and shaving the head clean and discarding the hair in a huge pile where it is gathered and sold to purveyors and processors of the growing hair market demand. Most of this hair is sold to China because that country cannot meet the demand for domestically grown hair.

FRENCH, EUROPEAN AND ITALIAN HAIR

It is considered to be the best grade because it is not as course as Asian and India hair, and therefore is easier to process and maintain. It is also the most expensive because it is harder to come by because this hair is not grown as a crop or for cultural reasons. Much of this hair is obtained after the death of its source. This hair is primarily of Caucasian grade.

CUTICLE HAIR

It is another popular and more expensive type of hair. Cuticle hair is hair that has been carefully scrutinized to insure that every strand is turned the same way. Explanation: Human hair has scales reminiscent of scales on a fish. (Hence the term cuticle scales) The scales lay. close against the hair shaft and grow upwards away from the scalp. Cuticle scales are made up of the same substances as finger nails (Keratin Protein) but are much thinner. When hair is "back combed" meaning combed from ends to scalp, the cuticle is lifted and many of them are striped away, the rest are forced away from the shaft causing the Id& to tangle and mat. That's because the cuticles are interlocking with the cuticles on the neighboring hair. Cuticle hair is regular ordinary hair that has been scrutinized to insure that the cuticles are in the same direction on each strand. This procedure prevents tangles, snarls and matting when combed, brushed and styled. Throughout this article you may see the word 'processing", this generally means that the hair has been chemically treated to eliminate much of the cuticle structure and. to force the remaining cuticles to all face the same way in order to prevent tangling and matting during shipping and grooming. This is the main reason why you do not use hot water when cleaning commercial human hair. Hot water will cause the cuticle to lift and swell resulting in uncontrollable matting of the hair. Matting is caused by the cuticle scales interlocking.

SYNTHETIC HAIR

This is not hair at all; it is for the most part man-made hair from nylon and polyester fibers. This is why most such hair is identified by some variation of the word "nylon." This hair type is a much lesser quality than any form of human hair because it is less versatile to style and has a shinny plastic like appearance. It also cost a lot less.

YAK HAIR

A yak is an animal native to Thailand; it is a member of the goat family Its hair is long, usually touching the ground. Yak hair most resembles human hair and grows long enough to be harvested. The tail of the yak is most desirable for commercial use because it is longer and more manageable. The yak was originally used as a beast of burden because of its sure footing in rough terrain and ability to carry heavy loads. But now it is mostly raised for its hair.

VIRGIN HAIR

This is human and sometimes animal hair that has not been chemically treated.

YAKY, YAKI or YAKIE HAIR

This grade of hair is described as a type that most closely resembles natural Afro hair that has been relaxed. It is also known by such names as Afro Yaky, Perm Yaki, Curly or Geri Curl Yaky, etc. This is low grade human or animal hair that has been specially and chemically processed then flat ironed to take on the appearance of Afro hair that has been successfully relaxed and/ or curly permed.

REMY HAIR

This is a high quality human hair that is usually silky straight and smooth. Most hair for weaving, extensions and wigs is chemically treated in order to remove some of the cuticles so that the hair will not mat or tangle during shipping and use. Remi hair is considered to be Virgin hair because it is not processed with chemicals, so the hair texture is unaltered. This hair also has the same quality as Cuticle hair as described earlier in this article.

INDIAN HAIR

The name describes the source of this hair that is obtained as a result of a religious ceremony called Tonsure, whereby the hair is shaved from the head to atone for female vanity. The quality of this hair is exceptional because it contains all the refinements of Cuticle, Virgin and Remy hair.
